Drupal is an open source content management system, which has rapidly grown over the past few years. Currently, the popular content management system (CMS) powers over a million websites. Drupal began as a message board for its creator Dries Buytaert. It later evolved into an experimental platform where Buytaert could experiment with different kinds of web technologies such as RSS feeds and blogging. Once Buytaert decided to make the platform public, it attracted many people interested in the future of the Internet. Eventually, Buytaert decided to release the source code, allowing the platform to become an open source, and named it Drupal. Drupal’s appeal to web developers is its ecosystem of web development shops and its many contributors. Currently, Drupal’s version 8 is being created. This update is dramatic. The update includes features such as WYSIWYG content creation and in-line editing.
